A Relaxing Seafood Dinner at Roy Moore’s Fish Shack

By Craig 1 Comment

During a sunny day this summer, Matt and I went on a road trip up to Rockport, MA. After a relaxing day exploring the town, we were ready to grab dinner. We found this great seafood joint where every seat has a view of the water and of the boats coming and going.

Starters and Drinks

Rockport is a formerly dry town so there’s no bars to grab a drink, there are also a few rules surrounding what you’re allowed to order. You must order a full meal with your drink, so if you’re in the mood for a quick drink, you won’t find it here.

The menu was decently sized with a lot of different types of offerings. Price-wise it was average, about the same as other seafood restaurants that I’ve been to.

Our waitress was mousy and a little fidgety, but she was quick to take our drink and appetizer order. I got a margarita.

Matt ordered a beer and the waitress was quick to bring the drinks over. As an appetizer, we ordered the muscles.

They came in a red sauce, were cooked correctly and we ate the entire plate. In between courses, we got to enjoy the sights of the ocean and the boats from our table. It reminded me a bit of our time eating at the Purple Urchin.

The Main Course

I ordered the baked haddock, while Matt ordered the fish sandwich.

My baked haddock was cooked right and was very tasty. The one issue I had was that there was a lot of extra water/grease at the bottom of the plate. Matt enjoyed his fish sandwich.

Roy Moore’s Fish Shack Wrap Up

Roy Moore’s Fish Shack is located at 21 Dock Sq, Rockport, MA 01966. It’s a decent place to grab lunch or dinner if you’re in Rockport. We had a good experience there and I’m sure you will too.
