Matt and I are fiends for road trips. We take them all of the time. They are a great way to disconnect from the stress of daily life and set off on an adventure. One thing we have always wanted to try was to take a road trip with an RV. This is our list of the top 4 trips we would love to take with an RV.
Boston to New Orleans
If you remember our insane road trip to New Orleans, you know that we tend to blitz through destinations while we are road tripping. We drove straight through from Massachusetts to New Orleans. As we get older, we are finding it harder to do trips like this.
The more leisurely life of RV road tripping is a great way to explore, but also give yourself time to stop and smell the roses. With one way RV rental, it can be even easier as you would not have to worry about getting the RV back to a rental agency.
There were a lot of great areas that we drove through that I would have loved to stop and explore.
Our Pick of Places to Park an RV down to NOLA
- McFarland RV Park, Cloverdale, VA – This RV park is conveniently located for day trips to explore Roanoke. It is also close enough to the mountains to enjoy the outdoors.
- Raccoon Mountain, Chattanooga, TN – Check out the Riverbend Music Festival, it is a multi-day festival featuring hit artists across the genre spectrum.
- French Quarter RV Resort, New Orleans, LA – A safe place to stay in the Big Easy that is within walking distance to the French Quarter.
New Mexico
Called the “Land of Enchantment”, New Mexico is home to some breathtaking desert vistas and revitalizing adventures. We have driven from Las Vegas to Santa Fe before, but we want to do an RV tour around the state. There are so many amazing things to see.

- Angel Peak RV Park, Bloomfield, NM – It is a short ways away from the stunning Chaco Canyo, a unique landscape that is the ancestral home of the Hopi and Pueblo peoples.
- Los Suenos De Santa Fe RV Park, Santa Fe, NM – This RV park is a short drive from Santa Fe, an old city full of great architecture, inspiring art and ancient culture.
- Red Barn RV Park, Roswell, NM – Explore the strange and otherworldly alien legends of Roswell also this park is pet friendly.
Seattle to San Francisco
We have done this road trip in a car before and it was one of the most fun trips we have ever taken. The redwoods of northern California, the cliffs of Oregon and the mountains of Seattle will change your life. If you do not already own an RV, you can get one way RV rentals Seattle to San Francisco.

- Columbia River RV Park, Portland, OR – It is a 20 minute drive to all the great food and art of downtown Portland. If you do not want a city adventure, head east a short ways to the Columbia River Gorge.
- Mountain Gate RV Park, Redding, CA – The park is a stone’s throw from the Redwood Forest. This ancient, towering forest should be on everyone’s bucket list.
- Marin RV Park, Greenbrae, CA – There is easy access to the ferry that sets out for San Francisco, allowing convenient transportation to the city without the headaches of city-life.
Florida
Having spent the last 4 years living in Florida, we can confidently say that there is a lot to see besides the palm trees. Each part of Florida offers something different: Northern Florida has many old cities with interesting history, Central Florida has Disney and Lake Okeechobee, and Southern Florida is home to vibrant beaches, Cuban flair and the sleepy Florida Keys.

- Lake Breeze RV Park, Fairview Shores, FL – Explore scenic Lake Apopka in between visits to Disney and Universal Studios.
- Keys Palms RV Resort, Key Largo, FL – Go diving or fishing off the crystal clear shores of the Florida Keys. Take a day trip up to Miami or if you are feeling ambitious, drive down to Key West for a fun evening.
