Arguably the most recognized Delhi landmark and one of the many fun things to do in Delhi, the Lotus Temple is a building designed in the shape of a lotus flower with 27 flower petals. The entirety of the lotus flower was constructed in marble and is a remarkable feat of architecture.
This temple is a worshipping ground for all religions. Once inside, a volunteer will give you the rules and you are free to sit in silence for as long as you’d like.
Humayun’s Tomb
Another artifact left behind by the Mughal Empire, Humayun’s Tomb was built in the 16th century and is thought to be the inspiration for the Taj Mahal.
Explore the beautiful gardens before climbing the steps to the main deck of the tomb. Inside, beautiful marble tombstones mark where emperors and rules were laid to rest.
Be sure to spend some time inside the museum located near the entrance; it’s full of interesting, old photos and historical explanations of the tomb.

On the first floor sits the main devotional area; cross the courtyard and ascend the terrace to reach it. Shoes and leather goods should be removed before entering the temple.
Gilded paintings shine along the walls of the shrine areas creating a soothing and relaxing atmosphere. It is the perfect place to take time to reflect and unwind from the stresses of life.
Behind the temple sits a one-of-a-kind bird hospital. They have been in operation since the 1950’s and treat roughly 15,000 birds a year.
Raj Ghat
Be sure to visit Raj Ghat, the memorial in dedication to Mahatma Gandhi. It is situated on the site where he was cremated.
When entering the area, you must remove your shoes. Once inside, you are free to explore the large park. A stone path through the gardens leads to the black marble memorial stone of Gandhi. An eternal flame burns at one end of the park to honor the father of modern, independent India.
